Lots of interesting observations on this one! This is one of my favorite SVT tracks and choreos and I still feel like it is really underrated just based off the content alone- however in reflection on some of the points that you bring up I am recognizing that there is something sort of “off” about this choreo. At the time, I think a lot of fans were worried that hybe’s influence was/ would end up taking away what made seventeen seventeen. Tbh I think a big part of it is just comfort- in their last few tracks in their old studio space, you could tell that they were comfortable, doing their work as they preferred. Now they are in a very new environment and I wonder if they are feeling like they need to “respect” the space moreso than have ownership over the space. Something known about seventeen is their practice-room clean up games, great relationship with staff and backup dancers, and how they established themselves and communicated as equals with their company overheads. I think a lot of things were changing during this era and as strong as this concept was I think the stress or just different-ness definitely can be seen in this dance practice.

This is probably bias but maybe you feel it too somehow. Actually, my least favorite Seventeen title track, because man was I RESENTFUL when HYBE acquired PLEDIS and this was the first title I remember after the acquisition and Hitman Bang was a producer on this and something about it felt less "Seventeen" to me. I actually HUGELY preferred Anyone and wish it had been the title because that was the song that took me from "Casual Seventeen Fan/Appreciator" to "Deeply Emotionally Attached Carat" I did think that the HYBE acquisition allowed them to have much more resources/dancers and felt like they were able to be more mindful of their energy expenditure as they have gotten older but I'm not sure if it's a company thing, or an age thing, or a seniority thing because they went from being pretty much the junior/only group at PLEDIS to a BIG sunbae junior to pretty much only BTS.

Our guy pointed out at 5:52 and 7:55 is The8, who actually had a foot injury - he's the one you noticed run off right before the most intense part and he comes back for the end at 19:55. (SECOND EDIT: so I forgot that actually the China schedules were actually during RWY and not RTL lol but the injury was during this era!)

It’s not a bias thing because I’m not considered a fan but have observed their behavior enough in these dance practices to notice something is different …

I’m glad we were able to see them get more comfortable in the space! I can totally relate to some of the things you mentioned and I can notice those things!

New Carats who came in through Hybe don't like to admit it but older Carats could tell something was off during this comeback. This was their first comeback actively planned and promoted by Hybe and there were obviously some decisions made that didn't feel natural to them. What stuck out to me the most is how, when asked the classic "which song do you like the most in this album ?", none of the members chose Ready To Love. SVT had always been heavily involved in deciding which song would be the title track so you always had at least half the group choosing it as their favorite. The fact that no one chose RTL as their favorite but many of them chose Anyone says a lot. What's fortunate is that Hybe seems to have realized themselves that giving Seventeen and Pledis full reign over their comebacks yields much better results, and none of the following comebacks feel as off this one.

Yes….. I will say it’s important to have these transitions and times of change to really evaluate who you are as a person and group. So glad they are where they are now as a group!
