So Huang Xiao & George's routine is what made K-netz really hate this show. From my understanding the cultural appropriation started around here. If you remember kimchi-gate from back then, this show aired just a few months after that was all over the news. Koreans were really angry that SDC portrayed Korean folk dance as a Chinese folk dance, and this performance, the show, Lay, and everyone else involved got a lot of heat for it. I think that if it wasn't for the kimchi & hanbok origin controversy, this might've flown under the radar, but because of it, people were really taking issue with it. I can understand that, but at the same time, China does have a pretty sizeable Korean minority near the border with North Korea, and they've been there forever, so it is a part of their culture, too. Apart from that, I really loved Lin and Chao's set with the ballroom dancers. Again (or was it the first time?) I couldn't take my eyes of my lady dancer. I'm so glad this pair keeps coming back every season for the fusion episode, and yeah, in terms of fusion, this is the most fused they've been with any contestants!

Thank you for helping me with understanding where some of the controversy began! I will also say that there really isn’t ANY Korean dancers represented in any of the seasons I’ve seen so far so I know there is a little bit of that probably contributing as well!! The ballroom routine was pretty well done and they should be super proud of themselves!

I enjoyed your musical improvisation that gradually turned into the SuperMario Bros. theme in the Yang Kai/Teng Zai battle. 😆 I have a question maybe you have covered this before, but is there a reason you don't get a Youku membership? Most if all of the songs are in place on their site, but maybe there are rules in reacting to their content? Just wondering.

I think Mario makes everything a little better don't you think? haha! Regarding your question about getting a Youku account, I did have a membership when SDC6 was live in the episodes and there were no youtube equivalences yet, but once I saw the earlier seasons with the show, I thought it was good to save money and go with the youtube side! Now if I cover more SDC in the future (specifically the EARLY seasons) I will most likely get an account again to avoid the copyright muting!
