SDC4 ep 12 CHOREOGRAPHY ROUND

Tbh the performances in the finals were really my least favourite. It's like everyone when they were in teams were stronger together. More creative and executing better. Break them apart and well...it kinda fell apart a bit for me. It's very hard. The stage is huge and even with that many dancers there's this kind of "emptiness". While the battlers got help from choreographers to help with part of performances, somehow...I think the opening performances by the captains was way better. It probably made it extra tough as they needed to highlight specific 1-2 dancers who were the actual competitors and everyone else was just there in supporting roles. It takes a lot of star quality to be the one shining in such a large group. I think whether the contestants are choreographers or battlers, it's not a kind of role they're usually in and not many people can pull it off. (Except maybe a few of them I guess). Side note. the pots in George's perf are wine pots so yes the 2nd half was a bit of a reference to drunken fist martial arts maybe. Though the intent isn't clear since he didn't dance in a drunken way (;^_^A. hehe that's lion dance...though I think the lift that the guy in the back of the lion did, isn't unusual in traditional lion dance. Lion dancers do even more crazy acrobatics than that imo. Yibo's expressions tell no lies (* ´艸`)

I'll be honest, I thought most of these were mid at best. Definitely lackluster when we compare them to some of the other performances on the show, which is really baffling, because they have a whole month to prepare. I know for many of them, they're probably resting and recuperating from their injuries, but still. They actually do use past contestants on the show for their performances. For example, Bouboo had Xiao Chao (you may remember him as the emotional dancer from SDC6 from the challenge round vs. Dasha) and Wang Run, who were both from previous seasons. The woman that you were asking if she's his girlfriend - that's Wang Run, and AFAIK they were not dating 😂. But she was one of the dancers who got to showcase their choreo in episode one of this season, along with Bunta and Eleven. I forgot if Nikki, his ex, was a part of any performances. I only liked David, Ibuki, and Huang Xiao's stages. I don't think the others were necessarily bad, but we've just seem them do better, so it was disappointing, I guess? For Huang Xiao, definitely what you said - the other dancers on the stage kinda ruined it, which is really surprising to me, because every single one of them is from Hello Dance, and they've been dancing together for years. Maybe some of them are newer members, or maybe there were last-minute adjustments - but whatever the case, their mistakes stuck out so much. Such a shame.

YES..... It also felt like so many of them were just out of it creatively if that makes sense? I saw that some former contestants were used, but I think it would have been fun for it to JUST be former contestants to "even" the playing field if that makes sense? and now knowing what you referenced about most of the dancers coming from Hello Dance, as awesome as it is to promote the studio, not the best for a Finals performance to determine if you move on... Right?

YIBO DIDN'T HIDE A SINGLE THING HAHA! Loved it tbh. I respect his honestly knowing that some of these performances from his team were NOT the best.... The stage is for sure HUGE and even with ALL the captains and their teams on it, it felt filled but not too many people which is WILD.... I get the wine part now after you said what it was referencing! Totally agree with you there! I love watching Lion performers and it was a fun surprise to see it here in this way!!!
