Wasn't really going to comment on this cause it feels like I'm just talking negative, but there definitely certain parts that give away that they pre-recorded the violin. Not that he can't play or that he hasn't played live for other performances. But it does make the out of tune parts more confusing, maybe they were on a tight schedule. Pretty off topic cause we mainly talk about dance here and it happens all the time in entertainment, but miming a musical instrument performance is just a pet peeve of mine😅

If they truly pre recorded this that out of tune section was SO not the best choice and makes it really lower in quality in my book from the understanding that if something is playing live, I naturally build more grace into it 😂😂 bless it allll

Huang Xiao was the choreographer for Flying Apsaras. After you reacted to the dance practice I searched a bit to see if there were interviews or anything about the choreo but drew a blank :P. lay's section did feel much shorter :( Henry dancing with a violin is such a Henry thing. I guess the shows (not just SDC) like to make a big bang about it and make it look special but he's really done it to so much that it's kinda expected. Especially when he typically likes to slide while playing. The opening section with just the violin and the group was so cool though. And you're right about Yibo being in those dramas from that 1920s-1940s time period hahah. He has indeed been in those.

I loved Lay's section so much and I'm really sad it wasn't longer! And I agree that Henry playing the violin while dancing is SUCH a him thing! I know some of his solo works include that exact thing! I KNEW that Yibo used his acting chops for his performance haha LOVE IT
