Patreon ate my long comment but...here goes For the first 2, I think HB had the same issues as 1 million did in SMF when the collab with the ballroom dancers. It just felt simplistic and didn't gel. The contemporary groups I liked Keven x David the most because everyone shone equally, and the theme was there throughout but not so obvious so you had to think a bit. 11 and Chunlin's scored the lowest for me as I found that they didn't stand out, only their guest did, and the story while clear, was a bit too obvious and left me no room as the audience to interpret much. MT and C was the total opposite. All 3 dancers dancing at high quality, but the theme and what they were expressing was too abstract I couldn't relate. Classical groups...Xiao Jie and Stone's piece was nice but I felt like it had none of their character in it and they were just dancers in someone else's piece. It felt like the guest had such a strong POV that they both just gave in to that and it was her performance not theirs. Huang Xiao and George were *chef's kiss*. Folk groups was kinda hard but the Korean one felt a bit messy visually for me and like the comment above, some minor movements were typical of korean folk dance but it wasn't super clear. Actually since the guest could do Mongolian dance as well I'm not sure why they went with the Korean. Maybe it would have been harder to fit Acky in. The Xinjiang one was also a bit simplistic but they did manage to make locking not look out of place with the Uhygur dance so that was a plus. I think the live musicians were there because that IS how it's like for that folk dance. Musicians in a circle and people dancing out in the open. The decisions in this round were probably not my faourite in the season. Actually most of the performances weren't either. Many groups did struggle a bit imo but it IS a tough challenge.

It's amazing how far you've gotten in this series without skipping the commercial breaks ahaha, it would save you so much time if you skipped through those! The audience voting was heavily criticized this season, this episode I felt was especially shaky too because it's hard to be knowledgeable about so many different dance styles. It would've been okay if we'd just gotten audience comments saying they voted purely based on personal preference, but I felt like they showed clips of people who tried to talk too technical maybe.

That’s so funny how you mention that Patreon “ate” your comment 😂 such a great way to put it haha! I agree on your points especially about the folk represented with Derek’s group. It also felt not the cleanest but most didn’t in their respective groups so it didn’t seem as big of an outlier in that specific area to me personally! And with Stones group I felt the SAME way so your perspective I 100% agree with there! Not my favorite performances but I really like seeing everyone tackle a style that wasn’t what they were used to! I am all here for good growth!!

So I was THIS CLOSE to skipping them, but I remember people telling me that the commercials were funny so I kept watching them in case a new one came up because I didn’t want to not look at something when there was a possibility that someone wanted me to see a specific commercial if that makes sense haha 😂 next season I watch I will most likely skip them 😂
