Hey ya'll,

I've swapped over to subscription billing, which is broadly more popular and prevents you getting double billed on your first month signing up. Now you will be charged on your signup date for your sub.

Cheers,

Oh no, so they quietly went ahead and reintroduced this awful idea. Not sure where "broadly more popular" comes from, I'm a patron of tens of creators and you're the first to mention it. If you don't mind, I'll share the open letter I wrote at the time (5 years ago): https://gist.github.com/kav2k/6c6f1aadcf0f5add20213f7bb2551426 It was a PR disaster for Patreon when they tried to introduce it, and they backtracked. Looks like it's back without fanfare. My points from back then still stand - the "death by a thousand cuts" of payment fees prevent patrons for supporting many creators with this scheme.

pretty sure subscription billing is getting billed immediately on subbing and again once a month exactly from then, rather than getting billed exactly at the beginning of the month. this isnt per "thing"

I agree with the concerns other people mentioned. Getting billed for everything on the first of the month is more "popular" for me, and I don't understand how anyone (except the credit card companies) comes out ahead if payments are split out over different dates for each person.
