Hello everyone!

Since it was requested and I haven't made any content posts for a little while, here's a (relatively) short video of my thoughts about design. I go through how I think about design and how I ended up with the current designs of the 7 demiurges. I draw lots of wizards, Conan the Barbarian, and talk about evil Frodo.

There's a short audio glitch around 16 minutes in (just a heads up) that might give you a start if you're wearing headphones. The rest of it is pretty much illustrative of my usual mental process when drawing, so enjoy the sultry sound of my voice.

If you liked this video, let me know and I'll make another one in the future about drawing basics. Sorry it's a little rough and low quality, I'll try and brush up in the future (I think the image is a little small for one). I've also attached the final image that I drew in the tutorial.

Cheers! And Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans.

Very cool. I'd be interested in seeing some drawing basics stuff.

I've seen design methods like these described before, but could never really make sense of advice like "start with a shape." Hearing the process of how ideas can coalesce around simple concepts like sins and shapes and colors is very helpful--I feel like I have a much better understanding of all the design advice I've come across, now.

Doing constrained design helps you be creative, funnily enough. It's the constraints (let's design around a shape, let's design around an element) that make things interesting and tie designs together. You don't have to do it like I do, but it's really helpful to get me thinking.
