Exclusive dev update of No escape: Game edition! (231) (Pixiv Fanbox)

Game development

I’ve just finalized the rubber “flowers” base design, moving onto setting up the rubber pixie’s glade scene (where the bad end takes place) next: I’m pretty pleased with how the base design for the rubber “flowers” turned out in the end. For me it looks a bit like those fleshy carnivore plants you often see in movies and games; while still carrying that oh-so-important rubbery aesthetic. ^^

Also slapped quite a nifty rig underneath it; so it can bend and wobble during the bad end (while Kathleen struggles her ass off to get out). Together with some shape-keys to control the opening/closing of the plant and stuff like contracting the inner padding… Poor Kat. :’]

One thing I was worried about were the leaves deforming weirdly when opening/closing the pod; but with some mirroring magic and proportional editing in Blender it luckily turned out to be less of an issue than I anticipated. With the rubber “flowers” now good to go focus will shift on the scene in which the fail-state takes place: The forest clearing/glade at which the rubber pixie has made her home…

Aiming to have this scene setup by Friday; so that next week I can start pumping out the images surrounding the rubber pixie mini-boss (intro scene, battle and fail-state images).

And today we’ve teasers teasing off the rubbery “flowers” found in the pixie’s glade! No full reveal just yet (though I expect one to follow soon enough in the coming week), but close-up shots to really zoom in on those rubbery fleshy details… Reckon that when Kat's inside it looks even better tho. >;3
