Goooood evening everybody, Scriptor here with the latest news! ^^

Game development

I’m pleased to report that I’ve implemented the entire con-path of the assembly-line fail-state into the game. Both the drone and assembly line fail-states are now entirely in-game, and whilst they’re still a bit rough around the edges I’m quite pleased as to how they’ve turned out. ;3

Besides tackling those two bad ends I’ve also been busy this weekend on making various 2D sprite-assets for the factories traps/perils/puzzles. After all; when you’ve got an entire area dedicated to conveyor belt puzzles it’s only natural that place’s got some fancy animated belts as well! 😅 However my 2D sprites were... Rudimentary at best, so I’ve been getting some solid tips & tricks from Tonkatsu as to how I can improve my 2D art. Although it’s still a bit rough around the edges and there's (as always) plenty of room left to improve, I nonetheless think the new assets are already a big step up from my previous 2D self-made assets. ;3

The coming few days I’ll be focusing on making the intro portion of the factory, together with implementing the vacbed escape sequence in-game and the first part of the conveyor belt area/puzzles. Expect some teasers of those come Wednesday! ^^

Teasers

Some teasers of the con-path in the assembly line fail-state. Choosing between con and non-con will result in a different doll rolling off the assembly line, with a more willing Kat getting a pretty pink theme…

And the entire assembly line sequence will also feature plenty of PoV shots, however don’t expect Kat to be able to see a lot with all that thick rubber covering her face! >;3

And finally some teasers of my self-made custom 2D sprite-work: the conveyor belts Kat will have to traverse and rubber goop balls she’ll have to avoid. Small things but nonetheless very important to capture the mood inside the factory, and to top it off: Both of these assets are fully animated as well. ;3

And that’s all for this dev update, see you guys come Wednesday as usual! ;3

Greetz,

Now I KNOW that's not the floor texture you're going to use for the factory, right? Right? :) We've talked about this when you made the ice cream shop. You need some colour! :D Grab some of those yellow and black chevrons from the 3D renders and apply them to every fourth row/column of floor tiles, so they make a nice criss-cross design to liven up the 2D flooring and walls, breaking up the grey squares. Also - minor point with the conveyor belts - given the perspective of the 2D portions of the game you could possibly have a bit more fun with the horizontal version of the sprite, adding visible wheels/cogs to the lowest edge. Oh and even more minor - if the animated conveyor sprite isn't quite what you hoped for then consider adding something extra like a colourful patch of liquid or some scratches/scuffs - features that move along the plain belt, vanish at the far end, then return to the leading end after a few seconds.

Spinning safety lights are also a common feature to industrial conveyor belts, if you wanted to add some more colour and fun detail. Stuff like these: https://www.safetylightsandsignals.com/ Maybe you might even be able to grab lights from a different sprite (like the police drones?) and use them on the belts or elsewhere in the 2D factory design.

Oh no those floor tiles are just place-holders; the belt is currently located in the dev room hence why it looks so barren! 😅😜

can´t wait for it.
