I already know your opinion on that, but that's what's bothering me.. I'd want to make them different from each other, but then if I switch them, it pretty much cancels itself out. Maybe I could just say the first version is the canon, and the second is always just the switched version

That's a Good call.. or rather, both can be canon, but from their respective p.o.v. The problem with that idea however is that you probably have too change the background

I like seeing her as both the "top" and the "bottom", so in that respect, switching them in various scenarios would be the best of both worlds. :)
