Repetitive Strain Injury Resting (Pixiv Fanbox)
Content
Hello everyone, thank you for your continued support!
I've been having bad pain and weakness in my fingers recently from drawing, so I will probably be posting less frequently to allow them to heal. Unfortunately this could be from several weeks to months, which is the usual for repetitive strain injuries. Maybe I can figure out how to draw with my other hand or feet in the meantime, lol.
Mr. AOA is working on another Live2D animation. When I receive it, I will post the special version. I do not know when that will be, but it will probably be the next post that I make. https://www.fanbox.cc/@oao
Extra details
I think that poor posture, tablet ergonomics, and death-gripping my stylus are the usual culprits, as well as trying to draw immediately when I think my hand has stopped hurting. I exercise, stretch, and take breaks, but arthritis also runs in my family (unlucky!). The picture above is my cat who occasionally captures my arm, to remind me to take a break.
I think the strategy that I use to color lines, by painting over them, is a major contributor to this injury. It's very time consuming and requires fine motor control of my fingers and wrist.
Draft lines
This is usually how I sketch, and then I clean it up a little bit. I can draw this part pretty fast and loose, usually with less pain.
Painted-over lines
I hate doing this part of the process, but I like how it looks, because I think it makes the picture feel more soft and the lines feel more integrated with the rest of the colors. I previously clipped color onto the lines, which is easier to do, but the effect that I desire is not as strong. I've been considering using a convolution neural network to do this part for me, but it requires making a lot of training data (by cutting up my pictures into ideal input and output samples). I want to lick her little pink switches!! (╬▔皿▔)╯
