I found us a new home for chatting. It's based on Matrix/Element.

You can join the server here:

https://element.shotaworld.com/

Once you register there, send me a dm with your fanbox name and I'll add you to my personal space. My username there is koare

More Information

If you want to know more about Element and Matrix, here's a post by the ShotaWorld chat admin that set up the space, Ender. You can find the original post here: https://shotaworld.com/threads/introducing-shotaworld-chat.14567/

"As many of you may have read in the previous announcement about this, we recently decided to set up our own, self-hosted chat service after a large number of users were banned by Discord for sharing shota images.

We decided to go with Matrix / Element as our network of choice, and I have included a link to the new chat server at the bottom of this thread.

What is Matrix / Element?

The Matrix and Element websites will do a much better job than I will of explaining everything. But in short, Matrix is a decentrialized network protocol that powers communication services, such as chats clients like Element, which is the frontend interface you interact with. To think of it in terms of Discord, Matrix is like Discord's backend framework and architecture, whereas Element is like the Discord app you download on your computer that lets you communicate via the Discord backend architecture. Moving forward, I will refer to the Matrix and Element combined service as Element for brevity.

To continue with the comparison to Discord, a very important distinction to know is that what you call a "server" in Discord is called a "space" in Element. What you call a "channel" in Discord is called a "room" in Element. A big difference, however, is that it is a room-first architecture, meaning that a room can be by itself, or it can be in a space.

Matrix supports end-to-end encryption out of the box for DMs, and optionally for rooms. When using encryption, each device you use for communcation on the encrypted DM or room will need to be "verified" to those you are communicating with. The verification process involves comparing a set of emojis served by Element to make sure you're talking to the right person. Because it's an extra step that may be annoying, we have made all of the rooms in the ShotaWorld space public and unencrypted, so you won't have to go through a verification process just to join and chat.

Can I create my own Space or Room?

Due to the potential for abuse, we have made the decision to restrict the creation of rooms and spaces. If you are interested in creating a space or a room please contact myself or Shotaboy99 once you join the chat, and we will discuss with you what is needed. To be transparent, there will be a monthly fee for access to creating your own spaces or rooms. This fee will go toward the cost of upkeep for both the chat service and the forum, as well as any other services we may expand to in the future. You can always use the public ShotaWorld space and rooms for free, and you can join any spaces or rooms created by other members of the server for free as well. Only the creation of spaces and rooms is gated behind this requirement.

Sounds great, let me in!

Before I do, remember, all applicable rules from the forum also apply to the chat server. So please read the rules before participating just to be sure.

To join, go to Element and register. You will automatically be added to the ShotaWorld space and the General and Rules rooms. Unlike Discord, you can opt into which rooms you wish to join. You can see a full list by clicking the Plus arrow next to Rooms and clicking Browse.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or in the chat server."

"There has been some confusion about how logging in from the desktop app or mobile app works. Part of the confusion is due to how the decentralization of user accounts on various homeservers works.

When you register an account on Element, you will register on a specific homeserver. By default in Element Desktop, app.element.io, and the mobile apps, they will have it set up to sign you up on the matrix.org homeserver. If you don't change that when signing up on those clients, you will be registered as @you:matrix.org. By contrast, if you sign up via our Element site, your homeserver will be matrix.shotaworld.com and your user will be registered as @you:shotaworld.com.

You can either join the ShotaWorld space by registering your account on Element or by registering using the matrix.shotaworld.com homeserver, or you can register on another space and just do a public room directory search to find the public rooms on the ShotaWorld server.

I hope that clarifies it a little bit, but feel free to ask any questions you have about it."

So I assume the Honey Bee tier's description was not updated to also reflect Matrix? Or where you spared from the Discord wipe?

koare

The honey bee tier says "Access to Matrix server." Or at least it should say that, as it does on my end. Discord deleted my account, so I don't have access to the discord server anymore.
