Poll Winners (Pixiv Fanbox)

When I started the poll, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. There's an argument that could bee made for each character winning, so I was never 100% certain of anything. Going into it, my assumption was that Aerith would win. It was entirely predicated on the fact that the numbers of my posts on Pixiv skew heavily in her direction. I figured that since all of my Aerith work tends to get the most views/bookmarks/likes, that meant she was the most popular among the characters I work with. However, I could also see arguments for Luna, Marie, or Nyotengu. Luna was what I started with and sort of made my name with, not to mention I'm almost single-handedly responsible for all the Luna content on the internet. That's gotta amount for something, right? Marie is just a really popular DOA character, and I've done her a fair share so it's not out of the ordinary. Nyotengu is probably my most frequent DOA character, and a lot of people like my stuff with her... so there's also that. She also pulls in decent numbers. Not Aerith levels, but still decent.

Before I get into the character results, I'll post the results of the themes. It'll be annoying to weight them for the supporters poll, so it'll just be a straight vote. For the supporter poll, the themes went as follows:

Either way technically wins the supporter poll, but it leans towards just costume-based. Because of that, I'll be doing a fairly light theming for the supporter poll.

Public poll is the same, just leans towards the heavy side of things. So the public poll will lean heavy on the flipside.

But that's enough farting about and stalling to hide the winner picture. People don't care that much about the themes. They care about the characters. Without further ado, the supporter poll goes like so. With a total of 147 votes, we have:

1st - Lunafreya Nox Fleuret - 203 points - 54 Votes

2nd - Nyotengu - 109 Points - 35 Votes

3rd - Aerith Gainsborough - 79 Points - 32 Votes

4th - Marie Rose - 77 Points - 26 Votes

Very, very close to having Aerith lose. That wasn't really what I was expecting, but the winner/loser aspect may contribute to it somewhat. That said, it seems among my supporters I have more Luna simps than Aerith simps. Which leads back to my earlier point about how I could see Luna being the most popular character among those that I work with. Even though my Aerith stuff is my most popular stuff, people might just naturally associate me more with Lunafreya. Fair enough, I suppose. Nyotengu beating Aerith is somewhat surprising to me, but that might also be the winner/loser stuff. I could see some Marie voters voting for Nyotengu just to make sure Marie gets the L(and in this case, a W).

So Supporter Winner is Lunafreya, but now onto the public poll. Since it's public, I assumed the results would be quite different. Everyone can vote, after all, and I even added in a fifth wheel with Tifa. That'll really throw a spanner in the works, right?

Ohnonono...not like this Aerithbros... But seriously, I'm genuinely surprised by the outcome here. I expect surprise and maybe a bit of salt from people about the turnout here. Never, ever expected Aerith to get last place in the public poll. Even if you make the arguement that the Tifa addition took votes away from Aerith, that would still amount to 308 votes, just 6 votes more than Luna alone... and I don't think every single Tifa voter would vote for Aerith, either. That'd be a statistical impossibility. Very surprising, completely went against all my expectations. Perhaps my retention rate of Aerith fans is lower than that of Luna fans. It may be the fact that I'm basically the only one doing Luna content, while there are many others who do Aerith content? That'd be my guess, anyway. Am I gonna have to do a control test 1v1 between the two in the future to determine the most popular among my main fanbase? Perhaps.

Still, Nyotengu getting second place leads some credence to her legitimately getting second place in the supporter poll. After the first couple of hours of the public poll, it had seemed to stabilize at Luna>Marie>Nyotengu>Tifa>Aerith... but then Nyotengu took the lead a few hours later and didn't lose it. At one point, she was within five votes of Luna, then Luna pulled ahead by 60+ votes, but Nyotengu managed to narrow it down to about half that. I do wonder if someone shared the poll with a Nyotengu fanclub or something at some point, because in the logs there's a period where almost twenty votes straight were for Nyotengu, all within an hour time frame. That's the only case of such a large streak. Regardless, the winner is not Nyotengu, but Lunafreya.

Double KO from Lunafreya. Which also means double RRH Lunafreya animation. Lunabros winning. Meanwhile, Marie wins by losing.

I was actually going to do both Marie and Aerith if they managed to tie for last place, but alas... it did not happen.

But Aerith fans have something to look forward to this October anyway. As for Nyotengu... I'm strongly considering making a set of her once October is over. She was runner up in both of these polls, as well as being tied for runner up in the last poll she was in. I feel like she deserves it... plus the timing is right for it, I think.

All that said, I'm already working on the costumes for the next poll. No real themes going on, just "costume" stuff you'd expect to see around Halloween. I also started two of the poll animations ahead of time(tempting fate in the process, but I was confident things wouldn't change), so here's a couple of previews.

I could make the pixels even worse and you'd still be able to tell what this was just based on the color vomit. Maybe I'll throw some post-processing on it, make it even more of an eyesore.
