Illumination is key, especially on the lower floors of the dungeon. One can get lost quite easily in the seemingly endless and dark corridors. The administration tries very hard to not lose anyone down there, which is why they installed these living torches. Trainees are placed in a metal frame and forced to hold a source of lighting, giving guidance to anyone passing by. Not everything is nice or even affiliated with the dungeon down there and the light of the torch does not only attract lost trainees and trainers~
