Jul23 sketches (Pixiv Fanbox)

Somehow I felt like I made more progress this month than what is shown here, but maybe that's just because I've mostly been reviewing my old WIPs.

Anyhow, here are the new WIPs, which I'm quite proud for making a lot of progress for.

It's an illustration to celebrate Lize's new form. Just got to fix the shading for the most part.

It did make me realise that I've been trending towards drawing more definite forms (bodies and solid tentacles) in the past months, which I think is fine as it helps to train my drawing construction skills. But as a side effect, the sliminess does not look as good. I think I should refocus on that as I design future illustrations, and be willing to destroy larger parts of the underlying anatomical figure to become slime.

Relatedly, I realise one continuous source of frustration about designing/drawing Lize: The design of her lower body. On one hand, I really like having a well-formed vagina there, and the look of slender legs/thighs. On the other hand, it's difficult to convey a slimy feeling when the lower body is so well-formed: usually slime would pool and bulge a lot in blobs there due to the weight.

It's also difficult to make her "stand" at full height and "walk" in more normal poses, as tentacle "legs" are physically not that good at pushing at such a distance (a problem that all scylla have). I've been winging it so far with just a mass of tentacles, and it probably suffices, but it takes effort to draw and I don't think it's optimal still.

(Censoring gifs is way more annoying than single illustrations, because I have to do it manually frame-by-frame. :/ I'll mosaic it properly for the final result.)

I have to work on the hair and then the shading before completion, both of which sound hellish.

She's a one-off character for now but I'm tempted to make her a recurring OC. Mainly because her color turned out great, foxgirls are way cute, and unlike Lize, she has a simple design and her legs especially are way easier to plan for, which might really be the deciding factor to draw her over Lize. I also just want to draw nice sticky clear slime for a bit.

I haven't settled on a name, but I have a personality in mind: she's a hyperactive loli whose idea of play usually involves teasing mens' penises in some way. She seems to understand exactly what she's doing, at least in a physical sense She lives at the edge of a human village, is known to be harmless, and has become sort of a village pet especially amongst the young men.

My vacation is ending this coming month so I'm really hoping that I can complete a few more pieces before I disappear again.
