Another day working on the game! This time, I spent the whole day doing expressions for Ms. Mack and her Juvies, resizing the characters, making some corrections to the sprites, and integrating the files into the game. It's not as exciting as working in the game engine and adding new scenes, but it's necessary and it takes a lot of time. So, it's the occasion to talk a bit more about how the process works. You can see below, in attachments, examples of different expressions for each character. Usually, I start by doing some touch-ups on the sprites, as I see them with fresh eyes. In this case, there were some adjustments to be made to the hair of Betty and Jenny, as well as some corrections to poses that were not finished. Then, I create different expressions on separate layers: the mouth, the eyebrows, the eyes (closed, half-closed, open). There are also usually some additional elements to export, like glasses for Ms. Mack or bibs and pacifiers for Betty and Jenny, for example. After that, I use a canvas in the game format (1920x1080) where all the characters are lined up to adjust and test the size of these new characters before finally sizing them down. Finally, all the files containing poses and expressions are exported into the game files, and the final step will be to put all of these files into a layered image (for programming) that can be used in the game. Next week, I'll create these layered images and work on the first appearance of Ms. Mack and her girls!
