確か2018年の冬フェア用に描いた絵と、

2020年くらいになんか桜を題材にって言われて書いたSS。

すみません入院前でバタバタしてるので適当な更新になります。

この頃はなんか筆ペンにハマってた記憶がうっすら。

あと僕はロリコンじゃありません。桜を愛でる心があるだけです。

　ガーンと背後に擬音を浮かべて叫んだステフに、空はやれやれと大仰に頭を振って告げる。

　すなわち――

「桜に限らずあらゆる花は散る」

「身も蓋もないですわっ⁉」

　そう、ステフの解釈はあらゆる花に当てはまる。

　桜に限定する必要などない論理を、さもいいこと言ったった感滲ませてドヤ顔で語ったステフに呆れるのも当然だろう。何より――

「そもそも『桜』と聞いて、みんなが思い浮かべるのは“桜の花”じゃない――“桜の木”だろ？」

　実際、桜の花を近くで目にした人はどの程度いるだろう？

　樹上に咲いている花は見辛いだろうが、頑張ってよく観察してみるといい。

　桜の花――なんとも地味な花だ。

　小さいし色も薄い。特別いい香りもしない。

　そう――桜は、その花が特別美しいのではない。

　桜の木が、一斉に花をつけ咲き誇る。

　その有り様が美しいのだ。

「つまり“桜の木が美しい”のだ。ここまでは？」

「ええ。まあ……？」

　何が言いたいのかはわからないが、一応と。

　ここまでの言い分にはとりあえず異論がない様子で、ステフは頷いて空に先を促す。

「では断言する。桜の木は“いつだって美しい”」

　春――雲の様に重なった桜は確かに美しい。

　だが桜の木は、まず幹からして特徴的で美しい。

　瑞々しく蒼々とした葉を掲げた姿は夏にしか楽しめない。紅葉した葉が舞い散る秋の姿にも言葉を失うはずだ。雪化粧を纏い、蕾に霜を張らしながら、また花咲くのをじっと待つ冬の姿も然り――

「わかるか？　桜の木は“そもそも美しい”んだよ。花を咲かそうが散らそうが、葉が繁ようが枯れようが四季そのもののように変化し続ける桜に美しくない瞬間なんか、ただの一日だってありゃしない。その様こそが詩に詠われるまでに人を魅了する。それ故の『桜は散るから美しい』だ。いずれ儚く散るまでの一瞬を愛でるのではない。移り変わる有り様こそ美の本質――というのが俺の解釈だ。反論は？」

「――――」

　ステフは絶句していた。

　よもや空に、花を愛でる感性で負けるなんて⁉

　想定外の衝撃に茫然自失のステフを余所に、ここまで静聴していたジブリールが粛々と口を挟んだ。

「なるほど、流石はマスター。しかし、それが先程ドラちゃんに『ソラってロリコンですわよね？』と問われたことと、どう繋がるのでしょう？」

　そう……話の発端は、空がいつも通り膝上で寝息を立てる白に目を細めつつ撫でていたところ、突然ステフにロリコン呼ばわりされたところにある。

　故に、空は満を持して――こう、答えた。

「桜が散ろうが枯れようが美しいことに変わりはないように‼　今満開の桜の如く美しい白も、大人になろうが老婆になろうがそもそも美しいのである‼そんなワビサビを解して純粋に美しいものを愛でる俺が言うに事欠いて“満開の桜しか愛せん”などと宣うロリコン(カス)だと⁉　無礼千万、笑止極まるる‼　時代に感謝しろよ貴様世が世なら不敬罪で裁かれてるところだ‼　自分でもよく忘れるが俺、王ぞ⁉」

　かくして高らかに己の非ロリコン性(むじつ)を証明終了したと胸を張る空に――だが半眼でステフは返す。

「子供を“満開”って表するのがアウトですのよ」

　――ぅん？

「普通、子供は“蕾”ですわよね。十一歳の女児を全盛期(まんかい)と言ってのける感性の人間を、世間一般ではロリコンと呼ぶんですのよ」

　…………あれ？　……た、確かに⁉

　いや、しかしと空は改めて膝上に視線を落とす。

「……ん……にぃ、すきぃ……」

　そんな寝言を零すこの眠れる美少女(スリーピングビユーティー)が、蕾か？

　ＮＯだ。満開の桜と表してさえまだ足りない――全盛期の美を湛えていることに疑いの余地はない。

　そう感じる自分は、ならばアウトなのか？

　バ、バカな。ステフに論破された⁉　俺が⁉

「――――いや。違うねッッ‼」

　足下がガラガラと崩れゆく錯覚の中、だが辛くも踏みとどまった空は、不敵に笑って吠えた。

「まだ蕾でこれなのだ‼　白はこの先、更に可愛く美しくなっていく。そう――桜と同じ、常に今日が最も美しいのであるッ‼　そこに〝全盛期〟などという概念はない‼　俺はロリコンじゃねえッッ‼」

　果たして無事疑惑を払拭した空は、続いて〝散らない桜〟であるところのジブリールは美しいか否か――また通年美しいのだとしても、どの時期が最も好きかは別問題であり、空が最も好きな時期は結局いつなのかをしつこく掘り下げられていくのだが。

　その間――空の膝上で寝たふりを続ける白が頬を桜色に染めていることに気づく者はいなかった。
