Skirts, one of the arguably best clothing choices for koikatsu characters. Nothing beats a cute shirt to finish off your newly designed character. But skirts are plagued with problems when used within CharaStudio. Some skirts are worse than others, but most skirts are prone to clipping through the body and not fitting around the character accurately, often sticking out too far away from the body.

Luckily, these are issues that in most cases can actually be addressed with some manual adjustment.

As you may already know, there are two types of body adjustment options; FK IK & Advanced mode. FK IK are manual adjustment points in fixed positions around the body that can be moved manually. Advanced mode is a mixture of other settings which can also be adjusted, which allows you to change the gravity, forces and other options that affect a point's position.

Using both of these types of options, we can reasonably quickly fix the clipping issues that skirts so regularly have.

First we want to go into advanced mode, which can be found inside KKPE, whilst selecting the character whose skirt we want to fix. Then, in advanced mode, we go to dynamic bones. Dynamic bones control all the extra points of a character that can be adjusted. This includes but isn't limited to hair section control points, skirts, and other outfit control points. From here you can adjust the skirt, but doing this affects the direction the skirt control points try to go at all times, which isn't ideal, as if you need to move the character. All you'll need to do on this occasion is select "Copy to FK". This will save the gravity position of the skirt to the FK IK menu.

Now we go to the FK IK menu inside the Kinematics of the character. We enable the skirt and it should now have manual points that match the gravity position the skirt defaults itself. Normally, FK IK will default to a cone shape around the character which has to be manually adjusted, but because we've saved the gravity position to FK IK, we don't have to adjust as many points to reach a natural skirt.

Using FK IK which is already in the gravity position of the shirt, you can now adjust the points to move the skirt away from anywhere that it's clipped into the body or sticking up unnaturally.

To recap, open advanced mode via KKPE, go to dynamic bones and copy it to FK. Open FK IK and enable the skirt and adjust the new positions to suit your needs.

Hopefully, this short guide will help people resolve an issue that, until you know about advanced mode's many settings, is very time-consuming to resolve. If there's something else you would like to see a guide on, comment below and I'll try to explain it with a guide.
