New to Koikatsu or just interested in trying it out? This guide is here to explain how to start out getting the game.

Getting the Game

If you don't already have a copy of Koikatsu, you can purchase the official localisation of the game on Steam, Koikatsu Party here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1073440/__Koikatsu_Party/

If you don't wish to do that, there are "other" copies floating around the internet. Please don't ask me to assist in finding one, I won't help you.

What copy you have won't make any difference as the next step I will be recommending involves getting a mod patch.

Getting a Mod Patch

Koikatsu may have an official localisation but it's pretty bad to say the least and the base game leaves much to be desired. This is why fan made mods exist to improve on those areas and add further functionality. So I highly recommend getting mods to improve your experience.

I personally use the HF Patch, There are guides to installing the HF Patch and It's mod manager here: https://github.com/ManlyMarco/KK-HF_Patch/blob/master/README.md#how-to-install-the-patch

HF Patch is regularly updated with new mods and provides updates for the mods it contains. It does not limit you to the mods it contains so you can install your own. A downside to HF Patch however is that it contains so many mods that it will quickly bloat your game size and may make some older computers struggle.

After installing it (which can take quite a while depending on your computer) I'd suggest skimming through the mod folders (computer / Koikatsu / mods) and deleting mods that you don't think are relevant to you, such as "Halo Reach Tanks" as doing this will reduce your start up time considerably.

Alternatively other stuff exists like Koikatsu BetterRepack but I would personally suggest HF Patch which is simpler.

Got the Game? Start by trying things out!

Koikatsu comes with 2 Applications;

- The main Koikatsu game which includes, the character creator, a main story and various other modes.

- Chara Studio, the program people use to make their own scenarios and position characters around to make comics like I have.

I highly recommend trying them for yourself to start learning the ropes.
