This issue's "WW1 Weapons Directory" by Akira Suzuki is on the battleship Potemkin.

セルゲイ・エイゼンシュテイン監督の映画『戦艦ポチョムキン』(1925年)でオデッサ階段のシーンとともに名前はよく知られる戦艦です。名前はよく知られた戦艦ではありますが・・・ポチョムキンとはいったいどのような戦艦で、反乱後はどうなったのか、知る人は多くはないかもしれません。

本誌では戦艦としてのポチョムキンを解説しております。

In Sergei Eisenstein's film "The Battleship Potemkin" (1925), the name of this battleship is well known, as is the scene on the Odessa steps. Although it is a well-known battleship, not many people know what kind of battleship Potemkin was and what happened to it after the revolt.

This magazine explains the mecha and history of the battleship Pochomkin.

戦艦ポチョムキンの水兵反乱はロシア革命において重要な事件でしたが、それを描いた映画『戦艦ポチョムキン』もモンタージュ理論を確立させた作品として革命的な一作です。有名なオデッサ階段のシーンは「映画史上もっとも有名な6分間」と呼ばれていますが、緊迫感のある編集です。1987年の映画『アンタッチャブル』でブライアン・デ・パルマ監督もこのオデッサ階段のシーンをシカゴ・ユニオン駅のシーンで引用しているのはご存じの方も多いと思います。

The sailor rebellion of Battleship Potemkin was an important event in the Russian Revolution, but the movie "Battleship Potemkin" depicting it is also a revolutionary work that established the montage theory. The famous Odessa stairs scene is called "the most famous 6 minutes in movie history", it's a tense edit.

Many of you know that Brian De Palma also quoted this Odessa stairs scene in the Chicago Union Station scene in the 1987 movie The Untouchables.
