Hello everyone, I am now thinking of signing up for a new patron site, Ci-en, which is run by DLsite, the largest doujinshi download site in Japan.
Why did I decide to register with Ci-en? First, let me explain why. On March 21, 2024, I received a notice from the management of FANBOX, a patron site. It said, "If you support R-18 creators, we will not accept new Paypal payments. Simply explained, if you have a history of supporting R-18 creators using Paypal, you can continue to support them as before, but if you want to support new R-18 creators from now on, you cannot use Paypal.
I was kicked out of Patreon and ended up at Subscribestar. However, since Paypal is not available here, supporters without credit cards were at a loss. So I decided to publish the English translation on FANBOX as well for Paypal users. However, there are restrictions on the use of Paypal on FANBOX as well. If this situation continues, there is a possibility of further restrictions. I was concerned about that. After much research, I found Ci-en. Here are the reasons why I chose Ci-en.
- Ci-en allows you to pay for your support by using DL points instead of money.
- DL points can be purchased via PayPal (1 point = 1 yen).
- DL points can also be used at DLsite, where Ci-en operates. Various translated works are also available at DLsite.
Since the purpose is to purchase points to be used within DLsite and Ci-en, it will probably not be subject to the restrictions on the use of credit cards, Paypal, etc. for adult purposes that are currently a problem around the world.
Of course, Ci-en is not only beneficial. The restrictions on the content of the works are stricter than on other patron sites. In the case of my work, there is a possibility that the costumes worn by the girls may fall under the regulations. However, looking at the works submitted by other Ci-en creators, I think they may be OK. The fact of the matter is that you never know until you try.
We are still considering whether or not to register with Ci-en, so we have not yet decided whether or not we will actually operate the site. However, this Paypal regulation is an issue that we can never overlook. If we continue to do what we have been doing, there is a possibility that one day we will come to a dead end. As long as there is such a possibility, I, too, must always be looking ahead. That is why I am considering registering with Ci-en.
If you have any thoughts or comments on this matter, please comment. My best regards.
Thanks for reading to the end!
