I hope you can find the analysis clear enough to be studied together with the attached PSD, if you're interested! If not, feel free to ask 💜

I was super excited to work on this, pretty nervous too because I wanted the upgrade of this remake to be noticeable and nearly perfect... in the end, the whole process went very smoothly and I enjoyed all of it!!

Just some little extra details painted over or fluidified and... FINAL!! 🧡💚
Sketch #1
Sketch #2
Llineart
Greyscale (+indicative info on the light source)
Main colors test ▻ LINEART layer settings: [ Linear Burn, 30% ]
Refined flat colors
Rendering #1 I focus on characters and paint on layers UNDER the lineart. The goal now is defining shapes!
Rendering #2 I detail the background to match the rendering stage of the characters
Rendering #3 I focus on characters again, this time I work ABOVE the lineart now so I can make it disappear where I need/have more freedom.
Rendering #4 Time to take care of the background again! I also added extra details on the characters.
Detailing #1 ▻ ZHONGLI'S GLOW layers settings: [ Color Dodge, 100% ]
Atmosphere #1 I duplicate & merge all layers, use a Layer Mask to erase areas where light doesn't hit. ▻ NEW layer: [ Linear Dodge, 45% ]
Atmosphere #1 (+) By double clicking on the new layer, I activated this setting: ⇾ INNER GLOW, I pick a very low sat. red [ Overlay, 100% ]
Atmosphere #2 I select Lights' Layer Mask pixels, invert selection and apply: ▻ NightFromDay.CUBE Color Lookup Adjustment [ Normal, 45% ]
Atmosphere #2 (+) Areas in the dark are less saturated, so I used: ▻ Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer, SATURATION -12 [ Normal, 46% ]
Detailing #2 I added the curtains! They frame the characters pretty well, together with the tail at the btm/left corner.
Detailing #3 I further painted some areas + made cheeks more red with the following: ▻ 3Strip.look Color Lookup Adjustment [ Normal, 100% ]
Detailing #4 This is just an extra touch I like! ✨ I often apply above all this Adjustment layer: ▻ POSTERIZE, Levels: 41 [ Normal, 100% ]
Detailing #5 I pushed BLUE (shadows) & ORANGE (lights) colors airbrushing them respectively on top/left & btm/right ▻ [ Vivid Light, 11% ]
Just some little extra details painted over or fluidified and... FINAL!! 🧡💚
