You mentioned before about how the sun seems to be an important symbol, or such, in this series, right? Well, now we have the SUN pirates, who are playing a major role in the current arc. Seems like we got more signifcance for that symbolism, now.

I like the scenes showing how Hordy and his gang looked up to the Sun Pirates. Kids looking at the actions of the adults and trying to be like them without having a good understanding of what they represent or what they are trying to achieve. From Hordy's and the gang's perspective, they're out there killing humans which is not the case at all (except Arlong of course). It's always interesting to see what circumstances and chain of events lead people in the path they walk on in life.

You asked how, don't be upset when you get an answer: In sea horses, the male seahorse will carry the eggs inside itself until they hatch and then give live birth. Knowing this, my headcanon has always been that Neptune birthed Shirahoshi, not Otohime.

The storytelling by Oda is top notch here, and he is not pulling any of his punches. Even the small details that don't even get called out reinforce everything this arc is trying to say. Just look at the Sun Pirates logo and think about what it means, then look at Hordy's "New Fishman Pirates" emblem....
