Bondage Suspension, and my Self- Psychoanalysis about it (Patreon)

"What's the craziest thing you've ever done?" Well... that depends on your definition of "crazy". I have done many stupid things, many impulsive things, countless unconventional or controversial things, a few courageous things,  and a small handful of bad ideas. What sort of story are you in the mood for?

How about one of the few times I have been tied up and hung upside down? I found this rigger (the industry term for a person who is skilled at tying people up in ropes) The Dark Arts through his Instagram profile, he shot with the male model I hired for my (non nude) music video to benefit ALS/ Lou Gehrigs disease:  Truong

His images are high quality, which is hard to come by in the bondage suspension world. I have modeled for many talented riggers, and many talented photographers, but to find a person who is talented at BOTH photography and rigging is tough! Usually a rigger and a photog will team up to create this kind of art. 

***My Self-Psychoanalysis about Bondage Suspension Shoots***

Why do I want to do this? 

I want the photos, I like the art of shibari. It shows diversity in me as a model, and I am always trying to push my physical limits through my modeling to attract more dedicated artists in my life. I hope other creative people will see these images as a sign that I am down to sacrifice my body for the sake of art. 

Am I turned on by bondage?

I have done a MILLION bondage shoots, to me it is an assignment. Most of the paying bondage projects are "damsel in distress" themed (example HERE) and are more of a money-making gig. I am not excited about being tied up, and I am not scared of it. I don't need to be tied up to have fun with my boyfriend. 

I know there are plenty of women out there who are turned on by being tied up, or even excited when the ropes touch their skin (I've SEEN it at Fetcon!) But that's not me. From what I have been told, that stems from a sexual oppression. When a sexually repressed woman is tied up for her man to take advantage of her, she can "let go" of her brainwashed responsibility to be a lustless god-fearing "Lady" because she can't defend herself. 

My outlook is different, it's all about the project, it's all about the photos. I guess I get my jollies out by seeing the photos afterwards? 

Does it hurt?

Fuck yes it hurts! The tighter the ropes are, the more powerful the images turn out. Too tight can give nerve damage though! There's a balance, which is why it's important to only do this kind of work with a SKILLED rigger! My arms are always the first to go numb, and I know the difference between benign tingling and the BAD painful loss of circulation. Proper communication and respect between subject and rigger is an absolute MUST.

Once lifted off the ground, the pain intensifies exponentially. I am not turned on by pain either (in case you were wondering) but I do have a pretty high pain tolerance. The images are my top priority, so once suspended I need to make sure my body is posed how I will like, and my facial expression is not scrunched up or whiny. 

I am intricately tied, and the ropes suspending me take 40-60 seconds or so to lower and loosen. The rigger/photographer communicated this time estimation to me before lifting me off the ground, so it's my responsibility once in the air to be able to gauge my pain levels to estimate when I will be able to survive just ONE MINUTE before freaking out, so he can lower me in time!

Has any bondage photographer ever crossed the line at a shoot? 

I have heard the stories, and in most cases where a bondage photog takes advantage of the model while she is tied up, there was some planning error leading up to the shoot. Most commonly: the model may not have researched references on this photog by asking other models he has tied up in the past if they had a positive experience. Adding rope to a shoot changes the photoshoot dynamic, even a photog who has a squeaky clean reputation for non-rope shoots might suddenly cop an opportunistic feel when his model is defenseless in his presence. 

The only wierd thing that happened to me was getting the bottoms of my feet surprise-tickled while I was hogtied. The photog had a perfect reputation, and he just finished the tie and tickled my feet while I was ball-gagged and hogtied. I was PISSED! It sounds dumb, but when you're as violently ticklish as I am you would be pissed too! If we had communicated in advance that there would be tickling happening for some shoot concept, I would have been fine with it. But the LAST thing you want when tied up is for someone to act nonchelant about your helplessness. I let the guy know I was mad, and he apologized. The rest of the shoot went fine.
