Happy New Year. I look forward to your continued support this year.

The background is a slightly modified version of our shrine, so it differs from its actual appearance.

This year is the Year of the Tatsu(Dragon), and there is a slight connection between the dragon and our shrine. It seems that during my great-grandmother’s time, the divine spirit descended onto the stone of the deity, leaving a three-fingered footprint. It’s a small branch shrine and hardly anyone visits now, but it seems there were such episodes in the past.

By the way, the deity is ‘Daishou Kangiten(Nandikeśvara)’, and if you trace its roots, you will reach Ganesha in Indian mythology. It’s the god with the head of an elephant.

背景はうちの神社を多少加工したので実際の姿とは異なります。

今年は辰年ですが、龍とうちの神社は少し縁があって、ひいおばあちゃんの代にご神体の石に降り立ったらしく、三つ指の足跡が付いています。小さな分社で今では人も殆ど来ない場所ですが、過去にはそんなエピソードもあったようです。

ちなみにご神体は「大聖歓喜天」で、ルーツをたどるとインド神話のガネーシャに行きつきます。像の頭の神様ですね。
