When MTJ brings on a new artist we often give them ‘test specs’. A little stand alone page for them to render so that we can make sure that their skills match our viewers’ needs and tastes. When we gave such a test to the awesome Rearte, he passed it with flying colors with this beautiful illustration. The storyline was going to be for a crazy world with dinosaurs and warrior maidens.

We decided to write a sexy story about a ticklish goth girl called VAMP RECORDS instead. And the other idea waited for a loooong time.

And then turned into RUNA!
