HMJ - Chapter 44 (Patreon)

“So far, it seems to be working.” Mused Robin as she looked at the image of the Devil Fruit,
“Is that spell showing it’s current state?”
“It should be.” Harry nodded while canceling the spell. “But let’s make another test to just confirm the result.”
He once again cast the spell, intending to see another Devil Fruit. But this time nothing happened; no image was formed.
Robin raised her eyebrow at him before asking, “Nothing is happening.”
"Well, we shouldn’t be able to see it; after all, the Gura Gura no mi has been eaten by Whitebeard and doesn’t exist in its fruit form.” Harry chuckled. “So far, everything checks out. I have a full list of Devil Fruits to go through.”
And Harry did; he checked every fruit he knew off. Even the fruits that weren’t technically Canon. He had around 200 to check out. For quite a few, he had no actual image that he could use to see them and just knew of their power and future users. Which brought that number down quite a bit.
“That’s strange…” Harry muttered as he tried to scry the next one. He could feel his energy being used up, but no image was formed.
“What is? Shouldn’t it be just another fruit being eaten by someone?” Robin asked, as once again no image appeared.
"Well, based on the timeline I am familiar with, it currently should be fruitful. But something about it is different. When I scryed the Gura Gura no mi, it only used a bit of energy for the attempt once, but this time I am constantly using energy as if someone was hiding the fruit with a ward from me. Harry explained toughtfully.
“Didn’t you say people don’t use magic here? Which fruit are you looking for?”
"Publicly, it’s known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi.”
“Publicly?”
“Yes, this particular Devil Fruit is a very special one. The World Government has coveted it for 800 years; it’s also related to the events of the Void Century. Whatever happened back then had to do with the user of that fruit. It’s name is Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika.” It was a disappointment that he couldn’t see it. “This fruit has been hidden from them since then. Unfortunately, it seems that it is also hiding from myself. And I really wanted to get my hand on a god fruit.”
“A God? Like a literal God? Shouldn’t it be a mythical Zoan fruit? Gomu Gomu no Mi sounds more like a Paramecia.” Robin pointed this out.
“This fruit is a special case. It falls into multiple categories; it’s a mix between a mythical zoan and a Paramecia fruit." He answered while being disappointed, “I really wanted that. At least I know where Logia is for sure. Come, let’s continue.”
After completely checking on every fruit he could think of and having a list of which fruits are currently in cultivation, they moved away from the lake.
“How are you planning to find them? We only know they are in their fruit form, but we still have no idea where to look for them.” Robin pointed out that she had finished taking note of every Devil Fruit and their current status while Harry had been checking on them.
“I had more ideas to locate devil fruits, though this one can’t distinguish between a fruit and an actual user. It would have carried some risks." Harry took a stick and began to draw in the dirt.
“A Map? Though it’s a bit rough, it’s clearly of this world. These are the four blues. That’s the Grand Line, and the Continent crossing it is the Red Line.” Robin realized.
“Yep, this is actually a modified spell from my own world called the Point Me Charm. Originally, it acted like a compass, but after mastering it, I managed to modify it to a more useful version.” Harry said while holding the stick over the map, “I can locate things on a map with it, as long as I recognize the locations on the map well enough. But it can also act as a pointer, showing me the direction of something. But that feature only works if I am not more than a few kilometers away.”
“That’s useful.” Robin muttered.
“Yeah, but it’s still rough. We will have to search a bit for the exact locations. Let’s see. Yep, as expected, the Mera Mera no Mi is in the East Blue. That was one of the few fruits I knew the location for certain.” Harry nodded before he did the same thing with the other fruits on their list.
“We have quite the journey in front of us.” Muttered Harry as he saw how outspread the Devil Fruits are all over the world, then he saw the ones located on the Grandline, “And quite a few of them are inaccessible to us... But I am not going to risk the Grandline Climate.”
———
“What timing.” Harry said as he circled on his firebolt, disillusioned over the Snowy Island in the North Blue right below them.
“What is?” Robin asked interstedly as she was holding onto him, her body pressing against him on the broom carrying two people.
“That’s Minion Island, and the backstory of one of the characters from your story seems to be happening right now. Which is lucky? If we arrived a bit later, we would have missed the chance to get our hands on one of the most powerful demonfruits." He said this as they descended towards the island.
“The Ope Ope no Mi is that powerful?”
“Yes, it’s basically a form of space manipulation that allows you to manipulate everything in a specific area, and with enough medical understanding, the user will become the best doctor in the world. While that space is it’s limit and has to be set up first, if one were to awaken the fruit, you could move and manipulate that space with far more freedom. But even the World Government is after that fruit, not for its space manipulation and medical applications. The user gains the ability to sacrifice his own life to turn someone else immortal. The fact that such an ability is known should give you an idea of the true depths of the world government and the celestial dragons. Although nothing is confirmed yet, a big theory was that the five elders are immortal.” Harry said with full seriousness as they got out of his firebolt, and he stored it away.
“Even immortals, can they be killed?” Robin asked, worried.
“I don’t know. But it is most likely.” He had honestly no idea because most of his information about the five elders was pure speculation.
While he knew they had Devil Fruits, what they looked like, Haki, and were at least on a similar level as the four emperors, not much about them was truly revealed yet. “But that brings us to another problem. This place will be filled with Marines and other powerhouses that could easily dispose of us. These people are beyond our current level.”
While Harry said that his hand hovered in front of a wall and a door appeared, opening it, his store was revealed behind it. “It’s better if you let me do this alone. This place will be filled with Marines, Cipher Pol, and even a future Warlord of the Sea.”
“But what about you, Harry? You are just in as much danger as me, and not a lot stronger.” Robin pointed out being worried.
She was unwilling to let him go into danger alone. If he were a particularly strong fighter, it would look different.
But they had noticed that humans in the One Piece World were naturally stronger than in any other world Harry had encountered.
While he had similar advantages, thanks to his Elvish physiology, the very same physiology hindered him from changing his race to the human of the One Piece World.
The problem was that he would lose the advantage of his Elvish-Human hybrid form and needed to undergo the ritual again, which he wasn’t sure could happen since it required the permission of the dragons.
“Sure, I am not very strong in this world yet. But I have other advantages. It’s safer if I do this alone; it requires far less focus to keep my concealing spells on myself than two people. I am not mad; I am not planning to face anyone in direct combat. And if things should go south, I still have some trump cards that will save my life. But I can’t guarantee it for yours.” Harry explained honestly that he wouldn’t risk his life, even for benefits.
But he was confident that he could escape even an admiral if the worst thing happened.
He still didn’t want to risk it with Robin around.
“I understand.” Robin looked at him before pulling him into a hug and saying, “Come back safely.”
The hug only lasted for a moment before Robin left through the door. It shocked Harry; he seemed to have left far more impact on Robin than he had expected in the short time since they had met.
