WongYan wanted to see a comparison of both animaton rigs
so on the left is the old rig. and the current wip rig on the right (its upside down, hence wip lol(

so i think its pretty easy to see that the older one was stupidly complex. and has a ton of transformations that just dont work or are completely useless. usually I have to fight with it to get proper movement on my animation.

the new rig dispenses with all of that and have a much more refined setup thanks to new tech introduced in the latest version of Houdini.
its still not done yet (hence it being upside down. and more control geometry needs to be added. but its meant to be incredibly modular so in theory I can get all my characters running off the same rig.

I like this info, shows just how complex the simplest things are.

I suppose less joints means less work for animating? It seems much better to work with the new simpler rig.

its technically the same amount of joints. just that the way the old rig used them was really bad and half of the time it didnt work
