BOHICA NEWS --The Latest Updates! (Patreon)

Wow! A couple of people have decided to jump on the chance to get the BOHICA Blues collection book, "BOHICA Blues: Mobilized!" by self-promoting to Sergeant! 

I'd like to welcome both Rohan Tolstrup and Chuck Sherman to the ranks of Sergeant! I hope you enjoy the benefits of Sergeant -tier membership and the books are already at the printers-- I am waiting for a digital proof to make sure everything is okay before the print run is commenced. 

As the book goes to print, I am already thinking about Book 2, and thinking about how I can improve on the things I did with the first book. I am already contemplating ways that Book 2, already tentatively titled "Line of Departure" can be even better than Book 1. Stay tuned for further updates. 

For people in Sergeant level and above, you also have access to "Classic Comics"-- old comics projects that I did years ago that have only seen limited, specialized distribution or in some cases no distribution at all beyond a half-dozen friends and family. The big project right now is a 1990's science fiction tale called "Empires" which is a 40-chapter monster about halfway through. I will add other comics as well to break it up but there are, way waaaayyy back, older comics that I already posted (a satire of the original "Battlestar Galactica" TV show I did as a teenager as well as a goofy post-apocalyptic comedy, and more). 

One thing I am working on now is a in-depth look at why the "Empires" series looks the way it does (besides just the funny animals characters). The series is important because for a long time it was my largest work, one I developed ambiguous feelings about in later years, and also marked the last of my "old style" of art and the beginning of my "new style". 

The long-promised character background profiles will also be started as well, and hopefully I can feature a bunch of them in Book 2, "Line of Departure" when that gets printed. Character profiles will be available from Specialist on up, but from time to time will be made public as well. The "Specialist" tier is where things center almost entirely on just "BOHICA Blues" (specifically, the "BOHICA Blues Downrange!" comics from my actual deployment) and no further; it is at the Sergeant tier that you start seeing a lot more background stuff about the development of my comics writing and illustrating style.

As for Platoon Sergeants and my 1st Sergeant, Paul Brooks: characters are either already established, or they are coming soon. I have to make sure a character comes into the story at the right time. In one case, a character is going to be an AAFES civilian contractor, and he will join the convoy from Kuwait to Baghdad. Kuwait is also where we will meet our new S-2 (Intelligence) NCO. I am already working on the early Kuwait stuff so it won't be long.

The Kuwait chapter will be brief, but I will give you guys some hints about what's coming. If you were a fan of this series...:
