The S1 finale is here and man, it couldn't have concluded any other way, imo. I love how it focused on the different side characters, setting up their journey for S2, and doing so while Shadow battles Beatrix and Iris! Pretty dang nice presentation! I am so ready for that S2 announcement! Let me know your thoughts on this episode in the comments. Thanks for coming along with me on this journey through S1!

I don't think Iris is necessarily looking down on Artifacts, it's simply that the only way for her to rationalize the power that she witnessed Shadow Garden wield is by claiming it comes from artifacts instead of from themselves. Well the fact that she is using this artifact here is basically a small treat by the animators, to make it possible to have Iris actually be in that fight as more than just a nuisance. They prolonged the battle a whole lot while still making clear that the only reason it lasts that long is because Shadow is letting it last that long. It was way shorter in the novel and Iris only joined the fray when she tried to immobilize him at the cost of her own life, which Shadow actually complimented her for, instead of insulting her. Also bit of information on Mithril. In this world materials have something like a mana conductivity, similarly to how it is in Reincarnated as a Sword. If you try to strengthen a normal steel sword with magic, it only has an effectivity of 10%, 90% of the magic you run through it is just lost. A Mithril Sword is considered high-end if it performs at 50 percent capacity The Slime Shadow garden uses has a conductivity of 99%. So the weapons and body suits of Shadow garden are at least twice as powerful as what is considered "high-end equipment" in that world, and that is without taking into account the ridiculous amount of mana that they have to fuel them with.

She was justifying their power by saying they must have used artifacts. To me, its hypocritical to turn around and use the very thing she tried to justify her delusions with. It's not a matter of looking down on artifacts as much as her now realizing they aren't using artifacts yet uses one herself when she is outclassed. She's grasping at straws because her ego can't fathom her position when it comes to Shadow and the Shades. I don't really like Iris that much, tbh. She's probably the worst side character for me.

Once more proving that the Crowbar is truly the ultimate weapon.

Beatrix managed to break one of the crowbars which shocked cid, interesting moment. Possible tease of vulnerability if she was even stronger?
