aww these movies were my childhood. for awhile there (i think they switched to summer releases eventually) they came out over thanksgiving and me and my family would go and see them like a whole family tradition. i still have such a soft-spot for them and these characters. one thing that's so special is we got to grow up with them. we aged with them, and as we aged, the films aged too; growing more mature and deeper with each new release. it was a whole journey we went on and i'm happy you're experiencing that too now. i hope you continue the series just to see how the characters grow. i think a lot of questions you're having will get answered more with each film.

I can't wait! Part of me wishes I got to experience watching these with my family growing up since I was literally the target audience but oh well. Get to post them so ya'll get to relive it again.

Chris Columbus wanted Daniel Radcliffe for the role of Harry since he saw him in BBC's production of David Copperfield, which he starred in with some of his future co-stars in Harry Potter, like Dame Maggie Smith (McGonagall) and Zoë Wanamaker (Madame Hooch). J.K. Rowling approved of his casting, stating that they couldn't have found a better Harry. William Moseley, who was later cast as Peter Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia series, also auditioned for the role. Having seen an ad for open casting, Rupert Grint sent in a video of himself rapping about how much he wanted the part of Ron, and was successful. Emma Watson's Oxford theatre teacher passed her name on to the casting agents and she had to do over 5 interviews before she got the part of Hermione. Richard Harris only agreed to the part of Dumbledore after his 11 year old granddaughter threatened never to speak to him again. Tom Felton originally auditioned for Harry and Ron before getting the part of Draco. Robin Williams and Rosie O'Donnell asked to play the roles of Molly Weasley and Rubeus Hagrid respectively, without pay, but were turned down because J.K. Rowling wanted only British and Irish actors in the films. Rowling hand picked Robbie Coltrane, Dame Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman for their roles. Several minor characters were removed from the films, most prominently Peeves the poltergeist. Actor Rik Mayall was cast in the role but his scenes were ultimately cut and never released. J.K. Rowling has stated that the "t" in "Voldemort" is meant to be silent, like in "mort", the French word for death. Voldemort literally means "flight from death". Interesting fact: Daniel Radcliffe, who's eyes are blue, was initially meant to wear green contact lenses to match Harry's eye colour as well as his mother's, but the lenses gave him an allergic reaction so after consultation with Rowling, it was agreed that Harry could have blue eyes. However, he does have them in the last scene which was actually the first one that was filmed, and his green eyes are clearly visible in close-ups. In contrast, Ron has blue eyes in the book but Rupert Grint has green eyes.

I keep getting ads in the midst of the movie, anyone know how to make it stop? I love this series!!

Ron's my fave book character but the movies did him dirty. In the books he is sarcastic, feisty and scraps with Malfoy at a moments notice haha. I think his character got the short change since he was more comedic in the books which is easy to cut for time when you need to trim something for a movie. My only knock on the movies TBH. Notably, Ron's insecurity is defined in the books as stemming from having 5 older brothers who are well known and talented, then makes friends with the most famous boy in their word. He normally handles it well enough.

I grew up with the HP books and the story holds a very special place in my heart. I have heard quite a few times, that kids and teens from christian families were forbidden to watch the movies/read the books. I dont understand why! I really dont!! I am not judging and i dont want to be mean, but can someone explain the reasoning behind that ban? I would like to maybe understand.
