This film turned out to be wayyy scarier than I was expecting. It really messed me up in some parts and the slow-burn nature of it allowed me to feel totally part of the story. Thank you, I'm not sleeping tonight. Enjoy :)

Yes, this is another great iconic suspense/horror film. It really produces the sense of isolation and increasingly tense environment. Watching it again got me thinking that many modern films do not commit time and effort to atmosphere and build-up. When you do, the payoff is very rewarding for the viewer. When you don't, you tend get more of a shallow movie - what people are now calling tik-tok style (fast, bombastic and easily forgotten).

From what I heard, it was Shelly Duvalls performance as Wendy that Steven King didn’t like. I guess in his novel that character wasn’t so passive and submissive. I don’t know, I think the Director’s choice to portray her as she performed added a lot to the tension. It made it easy to empathize with her as we saw her vulnerability. Your reaction was very real and made watching this Classic even more enjoyable.
