The Vampire Diaries 1X1: Pilot (Patreon)

So, The Vampire Diaries is finally here! I think I did a pretty decent job of not comparing it to Buffy. (I actually think I did more comparing to True Blood, but still, I'm pretty proud of myself!)

Okay, so, Stefan looks like a cross between Tyler Hoechlin, and Matt Bomer. This is a good thing. Lol. Anyway, we're definitely setting him up to be the 'good vampire.' I'm assuming that his brother, Damon is going to try to convince him to come back to a traditional vampire way of life. And somehow, Elena is caught in the middle of this. I think that's going to be the general premise.

It took me, literally, until Damon showed up and was all, 'I'm responsible,' to decide that Stefan didn't attack the people in the car or the girl in the woods. Oops. But in my defense, just because you are really trying to be good, I imagine it's hard to fight your natural urges and sometimes you might slip up, even you didn't mean to.

Why does Elena look exactly like Katherine? And who is Katherine? (Don't tell me). Hmm, apparently feeding on humans makes you stronger than feeding on animals. I can foresee that being a problem in the future. Maybe Stefan is going to need to be super strong to save Elena and he's gonna need to decide if feasting on a human is worth it.

It took me way too long to realize these vampires are out during the day. Then I was super confused. But that ring is gonna end up being super important, isn't it? We're gonna end up in a situation where Stefon needs to go out during the day but Damon (or someone else, who knows, it's the pilot, Dana) has taken it and it's gonna cause all kinds of chaos.

Blond girl is upset that Stefon seems to have fallen for Elena and not her. She's feeling vulnerable and upset (not to mention, drunk) and Damon is so gonna take advantage of this, isn't he?

Very much enjoying Bonnie so far. I hope she sticks around. (It's the pilot, so you never can tell.) But I love the idea that her being a psychic could be incredibly useful in this town now that the vampires have shown up.

Eventually, the girl Damon attacked in the woods wakes up and says only, 'vampire,' before falling back asleep. I don't know if she knows she's been bitten by a vampire or knows she is a vampire now. I don't know how you get turned in this world yet. (Don't tell me.)

Overall, this was super fun. I really enjoyed the pilot. It felt very familiar (maybe because I've watched some vampire stuff before) but it didn't really feel like a pilot. It felt like I was dropped into a show I already knew. Super excited for next episode!
