A Maid’s Purpose (Patreon)

The discarded candy bar wrappers stopped bothering Sakuya after a while. At least her mistress and her sister were eating regular meals, even if they were mostly after junk food. It was better than dealing with a pair of picky vampiresses who snubbed the healthy option wherever possible. Sakuya was a loyal maid, but she wasn’t an absurdly strict one so she did believe in allowing for the more than occasional after dinner treat. That’s being a responsible maid, she thought to herself and a responsible maid looks out for the wellbeing of her mistresses, including their erratic eating schedule.
More importantly, they served to cover her own snacking habits as she added her wrappers to the pile. They seemed to be a much more reasonable size when lost in the combined gluttony of two other girls, even if both piles had started off at the same size. Trash was trash once it was in the bag and nobody was ever allowed to be fully certain of who ate what in a single sitting. Sakuya never trusted calorie counting or scales for that matter. You could never be fully confident in weight when you took into account all the food and water that passed through a regular person in a day to make for a completely accurate measure of someone’s true weight.
Sakuya’s fear of losing her figures had lessened over the years of working at the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The day she burst out of her first uniform after stubbornly trying to squeeze into it for weeks on end was a major turning point. The next day, she simply added more fabric and extended the waistline with a little more material. The next time it happened, she repeated the process. After about the fifth time, Sakuya decided to plan ahead a little and stitch in extra cloth that she could let out a little more when needed it by cutting a few strands. A good maid was never to be caught in a state of undress and she would see to it that no amount of extra snacking would make it so. Dieting and cutting back were initial thoughts that crossed her mind, but with how busy things were, she could not really afford to make any mistakes just because her tummy grumbled a little. She felt sorry for any maid who had a lapse in concentration due to a little low blood sugar and would see to it that she would never be in their number.
After so many years, Sakuya didn’t mind how she bulged and sagged out of her uniform in certain places. She had long discovered that it was vital to keeping her mistresses calmer about their own plushness if they always knew that they weren’t the fattest girls in the mansion. Or in the village. Or pretty much in the general realm of Gensokyo. The hungry ghost and the gap witch were notorious gluttons which meant that Sakuya had to really step up her game in order to keep the Scarlets minds off their growing size by marveling at hers instead. She was a maid to a couple of girls who loved their candy, but it helped to think of herself as their pillar of softness that they could hide their fragile egos behind. It helped to think that she was helping others and at the end of the day, that really as what maids did best.
