First time you have seen one of these from me, so a bit of an explanation to start with. I got in touch with a few other creators I like, wanting to see if they would like to do a cross promotion of some sort. Mike from Yeehaw suggested doing a mini review, and that sounded like a great idea. So here it is, a review of Yorna: Monster Girl's Secret.

----------------------------------------

You, a young female mage named Ada, are tasked with collecting the monster girls that got away when your castle was destroyed. The gameplay is turn based combat and the punishment for losing is an h-scene, so lose at least once to every monster! There are also puzzle elements to the game, which aren't particularly frustrating, but do serve as a bit of an added challenge, with additional rewards in return.

The game is a bit of the opposite of what you see in MGH. You play as a female human and male monsters roam the area. The more prized monsters are the females, sought out by mages for the power they can get from them. Playing as a female protagonist was a nice change of pace since the majority of games focus on a male protagonist.

Without spoiling anything for you, the game is heavily story driven. There's some very descriptive h-scene dialogue to add to the art as well. I will leave the rest for you to check out for yourself.

As you no doubt can tell from the images, the art is great. It seems to land a few notches above a lot of anime style adult games you find at F95 and like. It doesn't have animations or "frame swap" animations like MGH, but it does take advantage of alt positions when going through dialogue to give a sense of motion.

It took me a bit of time to figure out how I was supposed to progress. The progression is tied to areas, so  to keep progressing, continue entering new map areas and you will be fine. I will chalk this one up to my own stupidity and not to the game.

In the end, it's fun, it's free, and it's a monster girl game. Go check it out!
