Update time!

Good news everyone, my game engine is no longer on fire. It's been a bit of a slog but the engine refactor turned out well and the result is a much stronger, more capable dialogue system. Now I can do super fancy things like fade in and out of scenes (or really any complex transition). Interject minigames in the middle of dialogues, have the dialogue wait for an animation or sound effect to play out, and basically have strict control over how dialogue behaves with regards to every other system in the game.

Meanwhile Phoenix has been busy, She finished up the art for the friend character. And while he's no Old Man, I'm sure you'll grow to like him... eventually :)

Phoenix is now started on the first real in game image, an introduction image to the city the game is set in. It's a complex picture with a lot of details, so I'm guessing it'll take her a while, but it should be worth it to start the game out strong.

I will be spending next week implementing the games intro. Mostly collecting the many required background images and doing other peripheral work, while doing more engine tinkering (still a lot of work ahead of me there). I know this process is taking longer than expected, so let me just take a moment to thank you all again for your patience and support, knowing you all are there makes the long work worth it.

In other news, one of my favorite recent(ish) projects is considering shutting down shop due to a lack of audience interest, which is a shame. So if you're interested in a very stylish 2D 1950s raunchy murder mystery game, do check out Paradise Lofts.

Have a great week!
