Update time!

This week was very productive. I've managed to get a whole lot of tech work done. Mostly around modeling the games data in a way that will make saving and loading as quick as possible. This is a prerequisite for my current goal of implementing rollback in Unity. Basically, rollback is nothing more than a quick transparent load. There's still more work to be done before I'm happy with it, but major progress has been made to the point where I can finally see a clear structure of what I'm aiming for.

Fun as it is to work on code, I've also done some visual design work and set up a (somewhat working) main menu. It'll probably change between now and release, but here's what I got so far:

I've also made progress writing the games intro. Fleshing out some of the initial interaction between the player and the friend character, and introducing the games core ideas. Writing up the intro also helps me figure out what kinds of effects and small touches I want my engine to support.

Meanwhile Phoenix is working on the design for the player character (no headless protag this time around). The sketches look good and now she's working on the coloring.

I neglected to mention this last week, but you can now find Bell Master on Game Jolt.  As I mentioned before, I will be flying off to Thailand next week for a delayed honeymoon. So I've paused charging for the month of January. I hope I'll still be able to make simple proof of life posts during this month, but I'm not sure what the internet situation is going to be over there. Either way, regular updates will resume on February.

Have a great week!
