Update time!

While I spent my time this week doing tech stuff, Phoenix has been working their ass off. I now have basic color versions of all 3 girls. And, since many of you (including myself) wanted to see some shading on "ballet girl", well, here's that version:

Once Phoenix is done with shading and detailing I'll set up a little ensemble reveal post with actual character names so we don't have to keep calling her ballet girl (though I've grown fond of that nickname).

With the game design issue from the last two weeks settled, I've continued exploring dialogue systems. I've pretty much written off Fungus at this point. Like a lot of 3rd party assets, it seems to be geared towards being the main tool that does everything and doesn't play all that well with external systems. This is antithetical to how I design software and after spending a while getting to know the system and attempting to wrangle it into something useful. I still couldn't get it to provide "save anytime" functionality, which I consider crucial, so I've decided to move on. Luckily, I've quickly found another asset that provides a low level basic system that would allow me to build my own kind of dialogue system on top of it without too much hassle. My hope is that it'll be a good compromise between home grown and 3rd party and will finally let me move forward with, you know, building the actual game.

Next week is likely still going to be mostly tech work, I try not to bog these updates down with tech jargon but frankly that's the main focus of this stage of development, so while I'll happily pepper it with art updates, which are clearly more stimulating for everyone involved, in accordance with my views on transparency, I'm going to have to share mostly tech stuff in the next few updates. Which is my long way of saying if I have to deal with it, so do you :)

Have a great week!
