The Clone Wars has a weird start. The first roughly 3 seasons are filled with anthology stories, which is why the episodes are out of order chronologically. The show also had a fairly rough start, when it comes to the animation as they basically invented this particular 3d animation style. It wasn't uncommon for the animation team to go over budget for alot of episodes, despite the budget already being set at a million per episode.

These 2 episodes actually take place before The Clone Wars movie you watched last month, the rest take place after the movie.

I am a big Star Wars fan, but I could never get into this show. For some reason, my mind just can't get as invested in animated characters. I hope you continue picking them. It will give me a reason to watch them all.

By the end of it's run, Clone Wars sets a very high standard for quality in a weekly animated show. I'm really impressed by how much it improves over time.

You miss out on some amazing stories, some of the best in all of star wars, if you skip the Clone Wars. You might also miss some context for some future shows if you skip the animated shows. That's my way of saying, if you're a big star wars fan, you need to watch Clone Wars (and Rebels!) :)

I've found that they are required to make the prequels actually make sense. A lot of plots holes are filled in, missing motivations made clear, and Anakin's abrupt about face to the dark side gradually built up in a way that makes it make sense, as well as Palpatine having an actual plan. It took some okay material and made it awesome. It does take some time to really get good though. That's on purpose rather than a flaw as they are trying to build something up rather then jumping right in.,

I have the same problem with animated shows and I didn't watch Clone Wars for a really long time. After hearing that Ahsoka was going to be in Mandalorian I decided to at least try to watch Clone Wars and It turned out to be well worth it as I ended up loving Clone Wars.

The first few seasons are really that great IMO except for a few episodes. It gets noticeably better later.
