You no doubt figured it out I'm sure but yeah, Ryan is the only one that sees Wilfred as a man in a dog suit. Everyone else just sees a dog. It's a dark comedy and it is really funny at times. I never saw the Australian version but they got the same actor to play Wilfred. I did watch this show as it aired and it was definitely one of the more interesting shows at the time. I get that you just thought it was odd. Nothing is for everyone.
