I definitely did try watching this as a first time along with you but found myself cringing at the show, which is a shame because i've heard so many good things about it.

The first half of season one is nothing like the rest of the show. It starts off as a CW teen drama but they shift it to a post apocalyptic show about survival. Give it all of season one(13 episodes) to get an idea of what the show will be. (Shan has seen all of season one so this isn't spoilery.)

You get why a lot of people are reacting to it? What? From the pilot? That episode was meh at best, it gets better, like in spades better, just in the first season alone, but this wasn't that great......also who are those a lot of people who are reacting to the show? I've seen like Liam Duke and The Normies react to it, I'm not sure it's that popular)

The first season always felt like a sci-fi version of Lord of the Flies to me.
