This episode has one of my favourite gags of the show. During one of the takes of them digging the DHT out of the ice Amanda Tapping went off script and came out with; "You spent seven years on MacGyver, and you can't figure this one out? We got belt buckles and shoelaces and a piece of gum, build a nuclear reactor for crying out loud! You used to be MacGuyver, MacGadget, MacGimmick! Now you're Mr. MacUseless! Dear God I am stuck on a glacier with MacGuyver." All the while Richard Dean Anderson is looking back at the camera with a "What is happening?" look on his face.

It was pretty good, I showed her that clip after she got done recording the episode :D

Sam is my all time favorite female tv show character. The fact that she doesn't act like a sarcastic bitch just to show how tough she is (so many female characters do now days). It's also interesting how she leans more towards military than science, while being a gifted scientist.

This is one of my favorite episodes of this season. I think despite knowing they were going to be fine, they did a good job at showing how desperate the situation was. Amanda was great and this episode shows you a little bit why Sam is one of the best females in sci-fi. Yes, I love that the show don't bring up the fact that she's a woman and hammer it on the head every time (like A LOT of shows and movies do nowadays). Like I said in a previous reaction, most of it is thanks to Amanda who told them to just write her like any other guys.

One thing I really like about SG-1 is how they sprinkle in a little more lore here and there. It's not always the main story driver but they introduce a concept, maybe add some supporting information in later episodes. Like how they thought initially the Goa'uld made the gates but have continued to find evidence to the contrary. It's this small work up front that allows writers to build on later for ongoing story.
