I had a bit of a crush on Tate when I was younger. He's cute, but it's more an overall thing and not just looks for me. There are things in this episode that didn't sit well with me, and seems like some of it doesn't age well. Still fun though.

A lot of stuff doesn't age well in this show lol. Looking back I can't imagine the dating stuff was any more realistic at the time 😂 And I absolutely agree that Renee's the token black friend, this trope was everywhere in the 90s. She's literally the only black person on the show. Ageism and sexism haven't gone anywhere, sadly, but at least there are more precedents to protect people now.

I read somethings about a reboot/reunion though. That they are bringing back Ally McBeal, so that will probably be less 'token' and more diverse. Also Demin definitely smells. At least I can smell it if it just came out of the store.

Tate speech to Ally though about happiness, wanting and contentment always stayed with me though, cause I feared I was like that too. That you have all these things you'd like to have in life but that once you have it, you won't be content and simply want something else again. I used to think I was a lot like Ally, maybe I still am, it remains a fear of mine that I'll never know contentment. I haven't seen the show in so many years, so how knows. I guess I'll find out.

Yeah, he seemed pretty spot on with her. Some people really are like that and have a hard time being content.

Tate Donovan had something going for him being in a relationship with Sandra Bullock for 4 years in the early 90s and later for 2 years with Jennifer Aniston. The fired anchorwoman was played by Kate Jackson who was one of the original TV Charlie's Angels in the late 70s.

Believe it or not, "The Rules" is an actual best selling book from 1995. Some of the chapter titles include: - Always End Phone Calls First - Don't Accept a Saturday Night Date after Wednesday - No More than Casual Kissing on the First Date - Let Him Take the Lead Thanks to the success of the book, the authors (Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider) published a whole series of relationship books: "The Rules II", "The Rules for Marriage", "The Rules for Online Dating", and "All the Rules". Ironically, Fein divorced her husband of 16 years in 2001. 🤦‍♂️

Brandon Wiesner

Isn't it ironic that she was defending a news anchor in this ep and she ended up becoming the head of a news organization on Supergirl?
