Belle is not that kind of a daddy's little girl)) Maybe Ruby "never felt like this before" 'cause the boyfriend that she ate was not her true love, and Dorothy is, so it feels different!

Lots of people reacted similarly to you in terms of this relationship, saying it was rushed and the true love thing came way too soon. Now like you said, falling in love super quickly is a big recurring theme in this show, and although I like more of a slow burn myself I let it go because they’ve done it so many times before. Besides that I was actually very excited about this relationship being a lesbian myself. This is one of my favorite shows and considering there’s barley been any representation on it thus far, it was nice to get something even if it was small. I also found the whole instant love thing kinda funny because it’s like a common trope/stereotype in the community that Lesbians move way too fast, like saying I love you on the first date and moving in after a week together, so it kinda felt like that. Anyway, In my own personal opinion representation is very important, so I’m happy we got some even if it was only for an episode. Hopefully there’s more to come (:

My take on how fast a shows relationships move depends on the characters. Main characters. Slow down. We have time. Side characters. Get it over with. We have a limited amount of time with these characters and I want to see them do things besides their love life.

Yeah, I have 2 problems with the Ruby/Dorothy thing. First is, as you and others mentioned, way too fast. Also though, that would mean that they decided to make Dorothy Gale a lesbian. Which would be fine if it was established before in any of the Wizard of Oz lore but no. They just did it for the sake of it and to give Ruby a love interest but where was the buildup for her sexual orientation too? It's like both her and Dorothy's came from out of left field. For the first LGBTQ relationship in OUAT, it was handled poorly.

The creators said they were going to have their first LGBT couple during S5 when the first half of the season was airing. These are just a couple quotes taken from a couple intervies This is when 5A was still airing when asked by the press about possible teases about it: “Our worry is the more the press asks us, the more it’s turning into the very special episode of Once, where we have a gay character, as opposed to what we wanted, which was we tell a story of love no different than Snow and Charming or Hook and Emma" Another main talking point in those first interviews were them saying they wanted to reflect the reality of the world we live in. This was the only comment I could find from the creators after this episode aired: "“True love’s kiss has been a staple of this show since the beginning..This past Sunday’s episode was just another example of how in a fairy tale, as in life, love is love.”

Yeah I made the same face when Red said that I was like well that came out of no where lol. This season feels rushed though, all the episodes seem off to me but I can't put my finger on it.
