Xena’s fights are heavily influenced by Hong Kong martial arts films, hence the wild moves. As for how Xena got the designation “Warrior Princess,” there’s an answer, but that’s a giveaway. (Lucy Lawless was really singing Xena’s funeral dirge at the end of the episode, and for that matter, really spitting the fire.)
