The way Red K works on this show is how it works in the comics. Exposure causes extreme behavioral changes or bodily transformations. The way it way it worked on Smallville, needing to be in close contact with Clark to work, was different.

This is comics correct, so... Smallville took great liberties

Once you are infected with Red-K you are infected with Red-K, you don't have to be around it.

This has always been one of my favorite episodes. Melissa is fantastic. She plays the dark side of Kara so well. And that scene in the aftermath where she's talking to Alex about what it was like always gets me a little misty eyed.

Love this eps. In smallville it was the lipstick. And I think she breath it in on the roof. Also like it when your Alexa came on, "Shut up Alexa." so funny. Tried to find it again but couldn't, will have to rewatch it.

Yes, but originally in the comics the effects of Red K wore off after 24 hours.

As much as I love Smallville and I do I wouldn't base effects of the different colors of kryptonite on Smallville or other parts of Kryptonian lore. Some on there do what they do in the comics and some are there own version. Red K in Smallville lowers inhibitions and lets out anger. Here it's similar with her feeling like she wants what she wants and it's letting feelings of not being appreciated out and it's leaning more heavily on the anger and acting more confident and self assured but in a negative sorta bitchy way and you can see her take that guy out at the begininng like it's nothing because she's not inhibited. It's sorta similar but seems a little different because of the differences of the circumstances of her life and what she wants at the time vs clark and his feeling about leaving home in s3 or being with lana in s6
