Second_Strike

S4 Fred added to the list of characters whom, without any powers, become more competent fighters than Xander, despite his 7 years alongside a slayer -.- He really is the biggest slacker.

Jasmine laughing as all the wounds of her followers appearing on her is the scariest she’s ever been, besides the first time you see her real face

Bisibia

He saves the world with his words. Violence is beneath him. God King Harris.

You're almost out of the woods. Angel gets *so* much better after this.

Fly on the Wall

To some people. I happen to think season 5 is a major let down after this season.

I hope you will start by finishing off this season of Angel first and leave the last 2 Buffy episodes for the end :)

The reason that demon happened to be there was because it was trying to get Jasmines attention. It got to Earth through that orb which it called a key. And it opens a portal to the other world through blood magic (similar to another Key we’ve met.......?). Also I think the cool season about this season is the religious undertones, and also what’s mentioned here about how we adscribe so much power and importance to things by naming them, classifying them, etc. Another connection to season 5 of Buffy, since for a long time they didn’t know Glory’s real name, only that the Dagon Sphere was meant to repel something some great evil that, according to Giles, May be so old that it predates historical records and is usually nameless. Even in real world religions, some people of faith believe that their God is too powerful to have a name or Gods name is unpronounceable. But really, that in fact is Jasmines weakness, her name. Also props to Wes (and Shan) for being so smart and picking up on the demons clues.

I forgot how much I hated this Episode... The whole Storyline 2ith Cordy since Cangel started and everything with Connor and Jasmine... It's like they took all the good ideas, things that could work out wonderfully with some effort and made them as stupid as possible....

Great reaction. Congrats on pick up on the clues. Can't believe this time next week we will have no Buffy and one season left of Angel. Still want it to come and at the same time I don't.

Zoot!

Interesting ... I liked your comparison of Jasmine to Hive from AoS!

I'm surprised how many fans here didn't like this one. I've replayed the insect monster's scenes so many times. I am fascinated with how they wrote and delivered his lines, and all his weird mannerisms, and how Wesley played him.

As for Connor, not everyone who is redeemable gets redemption. Sometimes they choose to do the worst thing possible instead.

Shan seems to not like this season and I think part of that is knowing there are 5 seasons. When we watched it originally, every season of Buffy or Angel could have been the end. Just knowing there is an Angel spin off is a huge spoiler for seasons 2 and 3 of Buffy. But even if Shan hates this season, I think she will like the next one a lot more.

Gunn had no choice but to hit that kid.

Season 5 of Angel is incredible. Much better than 4.

The main thing that I don't like about Jasmine is that she has taken away people's freedom of choice, and they don't realize it.

Funny thing about her power is taking away people's freedom, and replacing their fear with pleasure or happiness... much like addictions. With addictions, you become its slave and you lose your freedom. Temporary happiness masking the person's true feelings.

Interesting thing about the whole Jasmine influence resembling religion which seems pretty obvious with the people blindly following. It's like religious fanaticism leading to relentless violence with those who rebel or turn against their God. But I also think there's some psychological concepts tied to it when those 'followers' wake up to the 'truth' and no longer feel the 'positive' influence of their idol, and find themselves in a low mood. It's like they've been drugged and suddenly quit cold turkey thus the unpleasant withdrawal effects taking place. A very powerful and ancient mystical drug capable of turning anyone into mindless drones just like in real life.
