I love this show, it’s one of my all time favourites and I was so happy to see you react to the first episode at least (even if that’s all you end up watching of this show). Regarding your opinion of the detective shows I agree with you and feel exactly the same but it’s also what make this show different because Neal is there he takes all of the shortcuts (obvi because he’s a con man) and it makes the show easier to follow while keeping you interested. On top of that you have Neal’s story and his relationship with Peter, it makes great tv in my opinion....but I also know my opinion isn’t everyone’s and like I said even if this is all you react to for this show I’m glad I got to see it :)

Fun reaction. Matt Bomer as Neal Caffrey is so charming. Him and Peter Burke[Tim DeKay] have great chemistry and play off each other well. I watched this while it was running, and enjoyed it. Detective shows aren’t for everyone and that's cool. I really like some detective shows[Castle, Elementary, Murdoch Mysteries] and this is an interesting twist on one, kind of similar in tone to early Mentalist[also fun show with a charming rouge with mysterious past helping the cops.] I think I’ve gotten better at figuring out the plots and detecting parts as I’ve watched more and became familiar with the way they tell a story. What makes the good ones great is the characters thought. Much like supernatural shows that can do monster of the week episodes but if they’ve made me care about the characters journey I can enjoy it still. It’s nice when they also have overarching stories thought [this show does]. This definitely isn’t my favorite of the genre but it’s among the better ones in my opinion. I wish I could pull off wearing that hat.....that's a nice hat :)

I'm not usually that big on detective shows myself, but I love this one because, rather than being a police procedural, a lot of it is about Neal's blatant disregard for anything resembling proper procedure. Even so, I mostly picked it because Mark Sheppard was in the pilot.
