Yep. Not a popular finale, this one. I agree it seems more like a penultimate episode than a finale. They didn't nail it this time. But believe me, it's one of only a couple they didn't nail. Normally their finales are great (as you already know). There was lots of good stuff in Season 6 but as I expect a lot of people have been telling you (I have not read comments), Season 6 benefits enormously from a re-watch. Still, on we go. I'll be interested if you agree with my opinion about Season 7.

So mad at Cas for his stupid decisions this season. He was so great in 4,5. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Bonus after show your prediction video was right we did see god this season it’s cas.

When this had aired on TV I was not a fan and I fell off watching the show. I picked it back up once they aired season 12 and by than I was rewatching every season from the beginning to catch up and to see if i missed anything.

I Agree. It is definitely worth a re-watch knowing that Cas was actually the adversary the whole season and not Eve. It definitely ties the season together more.

Yes - they have you looking the wrong way the whole time. First with the distraction about Sam, then the alphas, then Crowley, then Eve. Whereas it's Cas all along in the background. Crowley claims to have raised Sam, but why? It seems like poor writing. But when you realise it's Cas who did that (but imperfectly because he was not as powerful as he thought he was), the whole thing begins to make sense. Of course, Cas means no harm, but he's making the wrong decisions all the way.

Don't forget Raphael as an adversary, who's the reason why Cas even agreed to work with Crowley in the first place.

I feel like this finale was honestly perfect, cause it was just like the rest of the season... characters making stupid decisions, and a struggle to get through. Every season of this show has its moments.... and even though season 6 isn't the "worst" imo, it is the most boring. Watching people react usually gives me a fresh perspective, and allows me to appreciate it more. That didn't happen this time. It feels just too disjointed and unnatural. That being said... I'll slog through this whole season for the sake of episode 15.

I hated this season when I first saw it but when I re-watched I really, really liked it. The only thing I hated about this season was the Eve story line. But I really enjoyed everybodys story ark this season. Cas needed a bit of a change up at this point imo and it was awesome to see him get a litte more of a "villainous" role to play. Also really enjoyed the Soulless Sam stuff, at least it was different. They had the impossible to do. How do you follow the apocalypse? I enjoyed the slower start with all the mysteries.

Toasted Toad

I don't really see it that way. Raphael is the adversary Cas needed to fight, but not the reason for him to fight the WAY he did. Had he tried to work with the boys instead of with Crowley it might have turned out entirely differently. Of course, he might have lost against Raphael but has this turned into a Pyrrhic victory?

It was sad seeing you react to what Cas was doing. It was hard for me back when I first watched this finale too. I did not like the turn Cas had taken this season. He wasn't handling the whole Heaven mess very well. Maybe it's because, as an angel, he's really not equipped for this sort of thing? For total independence and fighting against Heaven's hierarchy. Hard to tell. There were three parts of Sam. Soul Sam (the one having the visions, who lost his memory and killed the other two), Souless Sam, and Hell Sam. Just the three all along. About the chicken and egg issue regarding opening up the door to purgatory. All I can assume is that it was a different spell that Lovecraft used. That's how I mentally fix this issue. I didn't get the sense that they intentially meant to open the door to Purgatory. Just that they were tyring to connect with any other realm, and Purgatory is what they got. The spell Cas used was the one that lady knew, but could be other spells to do the same thing. But he overall has made some bad decisions. But he felt he had to do what he did, and that's the crux of the whole thing. He didn't see another way. And he didn't feel like he could fix things with Sam and Dean's help. That's a hard one. And I think that's something that bother's Dean too. Dean just wants Cass to listen to him about it not being a good idea, but he's not able to actually use any argument that would work on Cas. Just that it's not a good idea. And to Dean, that should be all that's needed. It's obvious to him that it's a bad idea. But Cas doesn't see it that way. He seems really confident. And that could be Angel arrogance. He sees it as a solution to Raphael. ugh

Season 6 is great on a re-watch, lots of subtle things that hint at where the story is going from the beginning. It's good stuff.
