Zoot!

I have never seen anything Ghost In the Shell, but have always been interested in checking it out. Now I think I will! :)

The majors name is Motoko Kusanagi major is just her rank, and no it is not still on but it usually on Hulu and still is in the toonami rotation. It aired for one season then a couple of years later 2nd gig which was season two came out. There are also the original movie from 95 two sequels the horrible live action remake and an animated remake that was done, as well as a collection of short films called Arise.

I think the 1995 movie version is regarded as a cyberpunk anime classic, alongside 1988's Akira. I never watched it all, the story just didn't grab me, but I do remember appreciating the aesthetic... As for this version, well, it's reminding me that I prefer my anime subbed rather than dubbed... Regarding anime in general, on a recommendation by a Japanese acquaintance, I recently worked my way through Hunter x Hunter. I skipped over some of it, but there were two arcs that I thought were amazing.

The movie is a classic for sure, one of the prime inspirations for the Matrix trilogy, and with good reason. I watched it before the series, so I was severely disappointed by the latter. Probably not the right way to do it, haha. Hunter x Hunter is great if you enjoy shounen but are usually turned off by how unimaginative and formulaic they are. Hunter x Hunter is always surprising and creative, sometimes downright subversive. I put it at the top of its genre along with Full Metal Alchemist (Brotherhood). Also as far as greatest anime ever go, I'll just throw Steins;Gate out there. That's real storytelling, best anime I've ever seen, but prepare for heartache if you ever watch it.

I’m a huge fan of all things Ghost in the Shell. Curious since you picked it for the pilot if you have any favorite installments[movie, tv, manga….]?

Oh I forgot Ghon rocks got a big chuckle first time I saw the weapon he prefers to use, and he is just a kind hearted pure kid and truly likable person in the show.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex ran from 2002 until 2005 I believe. It has two seasons total plus a movie. I actually watched it before the original 1995 movie, but I love both. Anytime you combine science fiction, mystery, and action all into one, you pretty much have my attention(assuming it's done well of course).

First time watched it. I'm the same, some I like, I enjoyed star wars rebel. I'm not sure if I like this or not.

The Major is an enigmatic character par excellence. You don't learn much about her back story from the GitS film, but the show gives you more of it, and you get even more from the Arise mini-series. One reason I like the GitS animes is that they are intellectually challenging, while also keeping a solid emotional core.

I too, have been curious about this one, but after watching this reaction, I don't think it's my kind of anime either, but it was fun to see what it was about :)
